Week 11: 1 — Ali al Najjar; student, leader, and speaker
Many Muslims fail to know of Ali al-Najjar, a very young yet eloquent speaker that gives lectures to the youth, elder, and general public. Even though little is known about Brother Ali in terms of where he grew up and what school he studies in, it is known that he studies in University and currently lives in Dearborn, Michigan.
What I like about Ali in particular is that he has a very fascinating way with words. Truth be told, there are other several intellectuals I can think of who pose better arguments and more insight in terms of discourse, but brother Ali deeply connects with the youth. He completely hears them out, finds a means to get on their level and understand them, and also hosts several events to have them be involved with the community.
Moreover, he has a lovely recitation in Quran and Arabic poetry. He spends most of Ramadan either lecturing in his hometown, or travels to different parts of the states. I’ve also listened to some of his Muharram lectures, and he’s also just as brilliant in that medium as well.
I found this video very phenomenal the first time I watched it; his description of Salah is every powerful, and completely moved me. Also, his recitation here is so compelling (this one is only a few minutes). You can also like his fanpage on Facebook here!
